A Rush of Blood to the Head

This poster is mainly inspired by "The Scientist" and the title of the album. To me, the song itself is very haunting and sweet. I choose blues and greys for a feeling of calm. I had actually been thumbnailing for other songs when this idea popped into my head! This piece was mostly conceived in Photoshop as I went, so I do not have much process other than some doodles, but I really like where it ended up!

I find working with text is pretty challenging, however I like the simplicity of this font. I may change it, because I am not 100% sure it is right yet but for now... enjoy!

(PS : I am thinking of the new topic but I wont be posting it for a while. Please let me know how/when you all are ready!)

Becoming Jane

I'm a little late, but here it is!! My character Jane Austin (portrayed by Anne Hathaway in Becoming Jane) and the archetype is the dreamer/intellectual woman. I really liked the idea of her being enlightened beside the window, even though it isn't exactly how the scene is shot in the movie. I played around with a triangular composition but decided a circular one was much more fitting to capture this kind of private moment. There is also some process work is on my blog!

Tour Poster

Hey champs. I'm just going to go ahead and post the new topic. With only slightly over a week left  of break, I present you with an abbreviated version of the my topic choice!

Concert/Tour Posters

Pick your favorite artist or your not favorite artist or maybe something that only just barely avoids making your ears bleed. It's up to you. Just reflect their music in an advertisement for a hypothetical  tour date. For funsies, let's say it needs to be proportional to 18"x 24", not unlike many a-poster.

Examples!

Post it up, guys.

Detective

Tuesday...Thursday...same thing right?

I chose "The Detective" as my archetype. Film noir and detective movies are definitely among my favorite types of movies.  I'm also kind of a big Agatha Christie nerd. Maybe I'm secretly 70 years old. Whatever.

I played off the Sherlock-Holmes-y detective (the classic depiction, not Robert Downey, Jr., as I'm sure you can tell) and the film noir detective.

I'm playing with making it kind of like a film noir movie poster, too:

I still want to play with the type, but I thought I'd share what I had for now, because I'm generous like that (or something).

I know I'm supposed to pick the next topic, but I'm going wait another day or so, and see if more gets posted for this.
